Joe Price has practiced with Faegre Baker Daniels since 1972 and is the senior trial partner in the product liability and environmental group, which was recently nationally ranked by BTI Consulting as one of the top three "powerhouse" practices for product liability. His practice focuses exclusively in the area of complex litigation, mass tort and class action products liability defense, especially litigation involving pharmaceuticals and medical devices.
Joe is one of the pioneers in mass tort litigation, dating back to his extensive involvement in the Dalkon Shield litigation in the early 1970s. The National Law Journal recognized him as one of its 2015 "Litigation Trailblazers." Product Liability 360 named Joe as one of its 10 product liability MVPs for 2015 and one of its 10 Most Admired Product Liability Lawyers in the U.S. in 2010.
Joe's experience includes medical litigation involving intrauterine devices, mammary implants, orthopaedic prostheses, cardiovascular devices, a wide variety of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, and various chemicals. He has tried medical product liability cases in Minnesota, California, Texas, Florida, Massachusetts, Illinois, Wisconsin, Missouri, North Carolina and North Dakota. Recently Joe has served as a national lead trial counsel for Novartis in four Aredia and Zometa trials in Missouri, North Carolina and California (two cases). Also, he recently successfully defended Zimmer in two separate three-week hip implant trials in St. Clair County, Illinois. He was co-trial counsel for Pfizer in the only Mirapex bellwether trial litigated.
Joe has managed the defense of prominent medical products lawsuits in his role as national coordinating counsel for 3M Company in the silicone breast implant litigation where he tried a number of cases and Target Corporation in the L-tryptophan amino acid litigation. He assumed key roles in the national defense and coordination of the Ritalin litigation for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. and the regional defense and coordination of the Thimerosal vaccine litigation for Aventis Pasteur, Inc. Joe was Multi-District Litigation (MDL) liaison counsel for Guidant in its defibrillator and pacemaker litigation. He is also MDL Liaison for Pfizer in its Mirapex Parkinson's Disease drug litigation. He was on the AstraZeneca Pain Pump/Local Anesthetic litigation national defense team. He is presently on the national defense team for the National Hockey League Concussion MDL.

Other major medical products litigation in which Joe has taken an active role as defense counsel includes other IUDs, oral contraceptives, PPA, Diet Drugs, SSRI psychotropics, herbal supplements and vaccines. He also served as national counsel for a major Fortune 500 Company in several toxic tort cases. Joe is also a recognized expert in the area of obesity/fast food litigation and has vast experience in trial/jury consulting and psychology. He recently published an article on Jury Bias against Japanese Corporations in DRI's For The Defense, and two articles on product liability implications of Biosimiliars.
