Shane Anderson

Partner

Shane Anderson is a partner in the product liability group in the firm's Minneapolis office. His practice encompasses a variety of complex product liability litigation, including agribusiness, biotechnology, toxic torts, mass torts and class actions. Prior to joining the bar, Shane was a mediator for the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, focusing primarily on consumer fraud cases. Shane also has prior experience working in construction and on the railroad.

Representative Matters

  • Currently, and for the past 10 years, represents a national window manufacturer in numerous product liability and consumer fraud class actions pending in multiple jurisdictions and in multidistrict litigation.
  • Walsh v. Flint Group Incorporated, et al., District Court, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Multiple defendant wrongful death action from alleged exposure to benzene from various manufacturers' printing inks. Obtained dismissal with prejudice and an affirmance in the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
  • Kloehn v. Carter Day International, Inc., et al., District Court, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Personal injury action arising after plaintiff's arm became entrapped in an agricultural seed precision sizer which resulted in amputation of plaintiff's arm at the shoulder. Obtained summary judgment for defendant Mycogen Corporation.
  • Blackshear v. Syngenta Crop Protection, Inc. et al., U.S. District Court for District of New Jersey — Multiple defendant wrongful death action from alleged exposure to various defendants' pesticides. The litigation resulted in a favorable settlement for the client after significant discovery and motion practice.
  • Burns et al. v. Universal Crop Protection Alliance, et al., Circuit Court, Clay County Arkansas — Sixty three plaintiffs alleged that their cotton crops were damaged from spray drift of defendants' 2,4-D herbicide products. Shane was the lead trial associate representing Crop Production Services, Inc. in a six-week jury trial resulting in a complete defense verdict.
  • White et al. v. The Dow Chemical Company, et al., U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia — Multiple defendant wrongful death action from alleged exposure to various manufacturers' pesticides. Obtained dismissal with prejudice.
  • Adams, et al. v. United States, DuPont, et al., U.S. District Court for the District of Idaho — More than 400 growers of various crops alleged off-target movement of herbicide applied by the Bureau of Land Management on government-controlled, fire-damaged land to control invasive weed species. Shane was the lead trial associate representing DuPont in a four-month trial of the claims of four bellwether plaintiffs.

Representative Pro Bono Work

  • In the Matter of the Welfare of the Child of: J. B., Parent, District Court, Juvenile Division, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Shane represented the Guardian Ad Litem as the moving party seeking termination of parental rights in a 12-day trial covering 33 witnesses, resulting in a verdict terminating parental rights.
  • KS Management Enterprise, LLC v. Kilgore, District Court, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Shane was the lead trial lawyer representing a tenant in an eviction trial. Shane obtained a complete defense verdict, resulting in dismissal with prejudice along with expungement.
  • In the Matter of the Children of Karen Wettanen, District Court, Juvenile Division, Hennepin County, Minnesota — Shane represented the Guardian Ad Litem in a two-day parental rights termination trial, resulting in a verdict mirroring the Guardian Ad Litem's recommendation.
