J.P. Hanlon To Focus on White Collar Criminal Defense

James Patrick "J.P." Hanlon, former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has joined Baker & Daniels LLP where he will focus his practice in the areas of white collar criminal defense, government investigations and internal corporate investigations. Hanlon, a partner, will be based in the firm's downtown Indianapolis office.

Before joining Baker & Daniels, Hanlon served almost five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Attorney's Office in Indianapolis. As a federal prosecutor, he investigated and prosecuted violations of federal criminal laws, including fraud, embezzlement, identity theft, tax crimes, criminal monetary transactions, firearms possession and trafficking, and violent crime. Hanlon also represented federal agencies and officials in civil lawsuits.

Having tried 15 cases to verdict in U.S. District Court and argued multiple cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, Hanlon brings in-depth courtroom experience to Baker & Daniels. He previously practiced in the Chicago office of national law firm Seyfarth Shaw and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert L. Miller, Jr., U.S. District Judge, Northern District of Indiana.

Hanlon received his J.D. from Valparaiso University School of Law, graduating magna cum laude, and B.A. from DePauw University.
