Christopher Dolan Named Best LGBT Lawyer Under 40 Honoree

Faegre & Benson litigation associate Christopher H. Dolan has been named an inaugural recipient of the National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Bar Association's Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40 Award.

The award recognizes 40 of the nation's best and brightest LGBT legal professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves in their field and demonstrated a profound commitment to LGBT equality. Dolan was formally recognized for this achievement at the 2010 Lavender Law Career Fair & Conference in Miami.

"Chris has demonstrated uncommon leadership and skill not only in the practice of law, but in service to the community – the LGBT community, in particular" says Charles S. Ferrell, chair of the Faegre & Benson diversity committee.  "A talented, diverse workforce is instrumental to the success of our firm, and Chris contributes significantly to that success."

Dolan is a member of the firm's litigation practice and specializes in environmental and natural resources litigation, environmental review, and administrative proceedings. He has focused his practice on complex environmental litigation arising under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and a variety of state statutes as well as contractual environmental indemnity provisions. He has also worked with numerous federal and state administrative agencies on behalf of clients, including the Environmental Protection Agency and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Dolan has also developed a strong pro bono practice focusing on child custody and adoption matters as well as civil rights issues affecting the LGBT community.

Dolan serves on the firm's community service committee and as co-chair of the firm's United Way campaign.  He has also recently been named as a vice chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Environment, Energy, and Resources Mining Committee and as a trustee of The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota.  He is a recipient of the Eleven Who Care Award, the Jefferson Award, and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Award for Outstanding Public Service Benefiting a Local Community.
