Jon B. Laramore and Joseph "Jay" H. Yeager Jr., partners at Baker & Daniels LLP, have been appointed to lead statewide commissions under the auspices of the Indiana Supreme Court in 2011.
Laramore was named president of the Indiana State Board of Law Examiners (BLE), whose 10 members are attorneys appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court. The BLE is responsible for ensuring that individuals admitted to practice law have met the requirements specified in the Admission and Discipline Rules of the Indiana Supreme Court.
Yeager was selected chair of the Indiana Commission on Continuing Legal Education (CLE), whose 11 members (including one non-attorney) are appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court to administer, develop and regulate continuing legal education requirements, continuing judicial education requirements, mediation training standards and attorney specialization programs.
Laramore is the leader of Baker & Daniels' appellate practice group. He is one of the most experienced appellate practitioners in Indiana, having briefed and argued hundreds of appeals in state and federal courts in several jurisdictions, including the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and Indiana Supreme Court. A former government attorney, Laramore has acquired special expertise in constitutional and administrative law, and he teaches, writes and speaks frequently about the Indiana Constitution.
Yeager represents businesses and individuals in a wide variety of lawsuits and arbitrations, including contract actions, business and securities fraud, sale of business disputes, class actions, international litigation, aviation litigation and corporate governance disputes. He has tried numerous bench and jury trials in state and federal courts, including United States Bankruptcy Court. Yeager also has prosecuted and defended appeals at all levels of both systems.

The 10-member Board of Law Examiners is composed of attorneys, all appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court. The BLE is responsible for ensuring that individuals admitted to practice law have met the requirements specified in the Admission and Discipline Rules of the Indiana Supreme Court. Requirements include the duty of writing and grading the essay portion of the examination given to applicants seeking admission to the Indiana Bar. The BLE is also responsible for certification of legal interns and the formation and renewal of professional corporations and limited liability companies and partnerships for the legal profession.
