"I would like to continue building a local practice and become more involved with local business initiatives," Patrick A. Scheiderer of Baker & Daniels LLP told the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly in a Q&A after being chosen to the publication's 40 Under 40 Class of 2011.
"I really enjoy working directly with local clients and helping local businesses grow," Scheiderer added. "Many of my clients and the deals that I do are in states other than Indiana, which means that I don't get to spend as much time helping the local business community as I would like."
Scheiderer and 39 other young professionals in northeast Indiana were honored by the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly. The honorees come from a wide range of backgrounds and represent a variety of professions in the publication's 16-county region.
"At an early age, they are accomplished leaders who are helping make our communities better places in which to work and live," Terry G. Housholder, president of KPC Media Group Inc. and publisher of the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly, said of the 2011 class.
Scheiderer is a partner at Baker & Daniels where he is a member of the firm's real estate and corporate finance practice groups. He represents institutions, REITs, private equity investors and developers in acquiring, developing, managing and selling individual real property assets, as well as real estate portfolios with properties in many different states. In addition, Pat has represented landlords and tenants in a wide variety of commercial leasing transactions, including build-to-suits, ground leases and sale-leasebacks.
"A large part of my practice is focused on helping clients buy and sell commercial real estate. It's hard to single out one deal or transaction as being my biggest career accomplishment because they are all rewarding in one way or another," Scheiderer told the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly when asked about his biggest career accomplishment thus far.
"I was recently asked, however, to compile a list of all of the transactions that I have closed and realized that I have served as the lead real estate lawyer for well over $2 billion in commercial real estate transactions over the past five years," Scheiderer said. "Thinking back, I realized that I have been very fortunate to work with and learn from some of the best real estate lawyers at the country's most prestigious law firms. I am very thankful for all of those opportunities to learn and grow as a lawyer."
