Faegre & Benson is pleased to announce that Breia Schleuss, an associate with the firm's finance and restructuring practice, has been elected to serve a two-year term on the board of directors of Minnesota Women Lawyers. Schleuss is also the recipient of the Minnesota Women Lawyers (MWL) 2011 Service to MWL Award. The award recognizes an MWL member whose efforts during the past program year have contributed substantially to advance MWL's mission. It was presented on May 11 at MWL's annual meeting in Minneapolis, where the vote confirming Schleuss's election to the MWL board was also cast.
Schleuss, along with two other colleagues, received the Service to MWL Award for her work on MWL's Research Committee, where she has served as a co-chair. In making its selections, MWL considers nominees whose work on an MWL project, initiative, or committee has resulted in measurable qualitative or quantitative benefit, and who have demonstrated initiative, innovation, leadership, and persistence in achieving the goals set forth by MWL. The work undertaken by the Research Committee has led to the creation of an online compendium of resources for measuring and evaluating the success of women in the legal profession.
Established in 1972, MWL is made up of more than 1,200 attorneys, judges, law students, legal employers and legal professionals who are all dedicated to advancing women attorneys and striving for a just society.
