David L. Weinstein has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as a partner in the law firm's Chicago office. He will focus his practice in labor and employment law where he has more than 30 years of experience advising and defending public and private companies.
Weinstein also brings extensive trial experience in both state and federal courts, defending employers in individual and class action suites in multiple jurisdictions. Before joining Baker & Daniels, he was a partner at Wildman Harrold in Chicago, focusing on employment and labor litigation, employee fraud matters and securities.
For more than 25 years, Weinstein has volunteered as a consultant to the Community and Economic Development Law Project of the Chicago Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law. He has advised and trained numerous nonprofit employers serving the low-income community on a wide range of employment and labor matters. Weinstein also has served as special pro bono counsel to the Illinois Lawyers Trust Fund, assisting in developing the fund's innovative grant program to help Illinois legal aid providers retain their employed staff attorneys.
Weinstein graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1979 after earning a bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and a master's degree from Michigan State University.
An accomplished jazz guitarist, Weinstein performs with the Barristers Big Band, a bar-affiliated band of lawyers and judges, as well as other groups. For more than 20 years, he taught Jewish Law and Ethics at Congregation Hakafa in Glencoe, Illinois.
