Andrea Roberts Pierson of Baker & Daniels LLP has been admitted as a sustaining member of the Product Liability Advisory Council (PLAC).
PLAC is a nonprofit association comprised of more than 100 international product manufacturers seeking to contribute to the improvement and reform of product liability law in the United States and beyond. Members represent a broad cross-section of American and international manufacturers from diverse industries.
As a sustaining member, Pierson joins more than 300 of the most experienced and capable product liability defense attorneys in the country to collaborate with corporate counsel on their pending liability issues and communicate current trends and events in the field.
After being nominated by two corporate members of PLAC, Pierson was selected for the honor by the organization's board of directors, which extends invitations to a selective number of qualified applicants who will make the most significant contribution to PLAC's mission. Depth and range of experience in product liability matters, dedication to the profession and leadership in the field were factors considered by the board.
Since 1983, PLAC has filed more than 850 briefs as amicus curiae in both state and federal courts giving the perspective of PLAC's corporate membership on the application and development of product liability law. Product liability law is a significant and growing field as the amount of litigation in this area continues to increase. Corporations developing products typically seek risk assessment services from the outset to minimize product liability issues, and companies must be prepared to defend themselves from potential litigation.
Pierson is a member of Baker & Daniels' product liability litigation team, focusing on the defense of medical device, pharmaceutical and consumer products manufacturers. She has represented manufacturers in federal and state courts across the U.S. and in Canada. Pierson has acted as national and local counsel in matters involving products like consumer goods and equipment, automobiles and medical devices.
