Career Development

New Hire Orientation

We provide the right amount of information, tools and support for every new operations team member. A structured orientation sets the course for success by covering department-specific training and introducing operations team members to key resources.

Professional Development

We offer learning opportunities and encourage operations professionals to develop their skills throughout the course of their careers. We offer technical training and the advancement of job-specific skills as well as online tools and in-house training courses to enhance technology skills.

Feedback

Each operations professional is evaluated annually, receiving feedback from those they work with frequently and their immediate supervisor.

Leadership Development

The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program is an opportunity for leaders at all levels to enhance their abilities to inspire, influence and achieve results. Through hands-on practice of skills, leaders will learn to communicate effectively, develop a motivated and loyal workforce, create vision and spark innovation, set clear expectations, manage individual and team performance, and reward and recognize achievement.

Fiona Gilliland

How does the firm support work-life balance?

“FaegreBD’s leaders understand that people do their best work when their professional lives are balanced with rest and relaxation outside of their jobs. As an IT professional in a global organization, my job doesn’t always fall within the standard nine to five hours. However, supervisors support work-life balance, and the afterhours necessities of our IT organization are distributed equitably and not placed on one person’s shoulders. Learning about the unique challenges of running a global IT organization has been a wonderful growth opportunity, and it’s been exciting to interact with colleagues around the world while supporting their IT needs.”

What opportunities have you had to serve your community?

“Community service is one of the firm’s core values, and it shows! I have had the opportunity to volunteer my time through Minneapolis Cook for Kids Crisis Nursery, eMentor Program, Habitat for Humanity, the Have a Heart Drive benefitting local LGBT youth in Minneapolis, and the Greater Twin Cities United Way Program, to name several but not all. By volunteering with my colleagues, I reinforce my commitment to the collaboration and teamwork necessary to perform my work at a high level.”
