The Presidents' Symposium of Chicago

Chicago, IL

Overview

Several Faegre Baker Daniels lawyers will participate in the Entrepreneurship Institute's Presidents' Symposium of Chicago, a forum for the CEOs and presidents of middle market privately held companies to discuss the issues of concern to their businesses. Through "case study" presentations, roundtables and substantial peer-to-peer networking, the symposium gives attendees an opportunity to uncover practical solutions, generate new ideas and make valuable business connections.

  • Cathy Gryczan will moderate a session "Estate Planning and Business Planning: Fail to Plan and Risk Death of your Wealth." This session will provide insights on the importance of considering an effective wealth transfer plan as part of an overall business plan and any pre-transaction plan. She will also participate in a case study session "Transitioning Your Business." In this session, the panel will role play advising a client on the structure of the sale and key issues in negotiating the sale of a business.
  • Michelle Kaiser Bray will be a speaker in "Social Media and Its Impact in Your Business." This session will discuss how companies can best take advantage of social media opportunities but at the same time protect themselves.
  • David Weinstein will participate in a session "Finding, Training and Keeping Top Talent." This session will provide an interactive opportunity to learn and exchange best practices with respect to recruiting, hiring, training, retaining, motivating and, where necessary, discharging employees.
  • Michael Abbott will take part in "Attracting Capital (What's the Current Environment?)." Among the issues discussed in the session are sources of capital; understanding the process; what a company needs to "look like"; and maximizing a company's value.
