What Does Congress Have to Say About Telemedicine Prescribing?

Join the Center for Telehealth and e-Health Law for a brown bag webinar featuring Libby Baney of FaegreBD Consulting, who advises the Alliance for Safe Online Pharmacies (ASOP). Libby will address issues related to Internet and telemedicine prescribing and recent congressional activities addressing laws and regulations in these two areas. ASOP's mission is to protect patient safety globally and ensure patient access to safe and legitimate online pharmacies in accordance with applicable laws.

Libby will be joined by Courtney Austin, legislative director to Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), who introduced the Online Pharmacy Safety Act aimed at curbing Internet pharmacy prescription abuses. The legislation also contained a definition of "valid prescription" that could impact prescribing through telemedicine encounters. Courtney will address the bill and discuss Rep. Cassidy's view of a proper physician-patient relationship in prescribing through telemedicine.
