US 31 Major Moves Team now in Place

The Hamilton County "U.S. 31 Major Moves" project will upgrade U.S. 31 to freeway standards from the Marion-Hamilton County line at I-465 to north of Westfield at 216th Street. Completion of the general route and interchange design is expected by late fall of 2008, with construction scheduled to begin in 2011. This project will affect a large number of businesses whose properties are located in or around the targeted portion of the U.S. 31 corridor.

According to published government sources, appraisers will analyze property after the surveying phase is complete and final land acquisition decisions will take place. Right-of-way acquisition offers for affected property may occur before the end of 2008.

Undoubtedly, affected property and business owners will have questions and concerns regarding legal and other issues. Baker & Daniels has assembled a U.S. 31 Major Moves team (displayed below) made up of professionals in the areas of condemnation, land use, real estate, zoning, transaction, incentive, municipal finance and corporate services. Our team is familiar with the landscape and prepared to advise clients on how to most effectively manage property and related business issues during the course of the nine-year construction project.
