Bridging the Gap: German Law on Quotas for Women on Boards

Large companies operating in Germany will soon be required by law to ensure that 30 percent of supervisory board positions are held by women. Frauenquote - or women’s quotas, was passed by the Bundestag and signed into law in December 2014. Germany joins other EU countries in adopting quotas for women on corporate boards.

Melanie Wadsworth, a corporate partner in Faegre Baker Daniels' London office, authored an article appearing in Lawyer Monthly in which she highlighted what the quota scheme will mean not only for companies based in Germany, but the German and EU economy as a whole.
