Law360 Asks Joe Price How to Land a Billion-Dollar Client

What’s the key to landing a billion-dollar client? Law360 called on nationally recognized trial litigator Joe Price, partner in the product liability practice at Faegre Baker Daniels, for his insight on the matter. First and foremost, Price acknowledged that a little good fortune never hurts.

“Everyone who tells you there isn’t an element of luck in any of our success is full of it,” Price said.

Price should know—he caught his break years ago, as a young attorney carving a niche in pharmaceutical and medical device product liability mass torts in the 1970s. He worked on litigation involving the Dalkon Shield, a contraceptive device that became the focal point of a groundbreaking tort liability case. That case distinguished Price as “the local medical mass torts expert,” the article said, and years later, Price landed his billion-dollar whale when Minnesota-based 3M Co. came calling.

Recently named a Litigation Trailblazer by the National Law Journal and an MVP in product liability by Law360, Price has maintained his spot among the industry's foremost product liability litigators.
