Employee Relations Counseling & Compliance
Erik assists employers of all sizes, including public and private companies, emerging businesses, and nonprofit organizations with complex workplace laws and sensitive matters. Erik counsels businesses regarding hiring practices, complex employee discipline and discharge matters, drug and alcohol testing nationwide, and the preparation of employment agreements and personnel policies.
Erik draws upon his litigation experience to better advise on employment decisions and risk assessment and management by understanding how those decisions may be questioned by employees and their counsel in court or before administrative agencies.
Labor Management Relations
Erik helps national businesses navigate grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and responses to union organizing campaigns and petitions for representation. He also counsels clients and trains management staff on practical strategies for effective employee management in unionized environments.
Erik also represents employers in all stages of litigation. He has successfully represented employers in state and federal courts, arbitration proceedings, and federal, state and municipal agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
Erik enjoys playing soccer and hockey, traveling with his wife, and exploring the outdoors with his two rescued dogs.
