Overview

Matt Olsen’s practice is focused on land and what is planned or built on that land. He is primarily a litigator, but he is always exploring cost-effective and practical solutions to problems before and during litigation to best serve his clients’ interests. Matt litigates in both state and federal courts, and he assists clients in trial court and on appeal. His representative experience is diverse, as real estate and construction disputes frequently tackle multiple, complex issues and claims.

Construction Litigation

Matt has substantial experience in construction litigation, including securing favorable outcomes in matters involving significant alternative energy projects, lien and contract disputes, construction defects and fraud, payment disputes, and other complex issues. He has helped owners, contractors, design engineers, public entities and other stakeholders resolve their disputes to keep their construction projects on track.

Eminent Domain

When property owners face the prospect of losing all or a portion of their property via eminent domain, Matt represents the owners’ interests and advises them on their rights. He works with corporate and private property owners to secure just compensation for property loss.

Land Use Litigation

Matt has represented renewable energy companies, municipalities, developers, real estate investors, homeowners’ associations, and other real estate stakeholders in land use litigation. From securing necessary permits and approvals to resolving land use disputes, clients rely on Matt to advance their interests in administrative and judicial proceedings.

Real Estate Litigation

Matt represents clients in real estate disputes, with a particular emphasis on resolving lease disputes for retail clients and large property developers or managers. He also represents both buyers and sellers in disputes resulting from real estate transactions.
