简介

Dick Wegener helps some of the most dynamic domestic and foreign food, alcoholic beverage, dietary supplement, restaurant, tobacco and other consumer product companies operate within the antitrust, consumer protection, advertising, promotion, and food and drug laws. He also provides regulatory and administrative law counseling and litigation before federal and state agencies to makers of many types of products.

Antitrust Law

Dick has expertise in product distribution and marketing, pricing, acquisitions and joint ventures, intellectual property and related transactional issues. Clients have relied upon his personal service and unparalleled determination in both federal and state antitrust and trade regulation matters, including significant counseling and litigation dealing with distributor terminations, exclusive dealing, price discrimination, price fixing, resale price maintenance, joint ventures and tying.

Food Law

Dick’s representation of food law clients focuses on food safety regulations (FSMA and other regulatory requirements), product recalls, inspections and third-party audits, defense of government investigations, import issues, food donations, labeling and advertising (ingredient/allergen statements, GMOs, advertising claim eligibility and substantiation, “green” claims, challenges to food marketing, country of origin and “Made in USA” claims), organic requirements, California's unique toxics and labeling law (Proposition 65), contract manufacturing and supply chain issues, continuing product guarantees, biotechnology and the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA).

In-House Experience

Before returning to private practice, Dick served as Division Counsel to the U.S. Foods Group and Assistant to the General Counsel for Antitrust and Trade Regulation at The Pillsbury Company. He also has had significant legal and sales responsibilities for The Haagen-Dazs Company and specialized in antitrust and food law in private practice prior to joining Faegre Baker Daniels.
