North America - United States | North America | United States - Minnesota

The State of Minnesota sought damages for alleged injuries to groundwater, the Mississippi River and other natural resources, resulting from the release of alleged contaminants from 3M Company manufacturing waste disposal sites that were used decades ago. After pending for more than seven years, trial for the $5 billion case was scheduled to start in February 2018.

Our firm represented 3M Company in the litigation. The firm prepared for the trial through extensive discovery review, mock trials, preparing papers and presenting arguments on more than 30 motions, preparing witness lists and jury instructions, and coordinating trial technology. The two parties reached a mutually-acceptable settlement on the eve of what was anticipated to be a lengthy trial.
