Baker & Daniels Hires Diversity and Pro Bono Coordinator

Brita Horvath, former director of section services for the Indiana State Bar Association, has joined Baker & Daniels LLP as diversity and pro bono coordinator.

Horvath, who graduated from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis, will coordinate all aspects of the firm's diversity and pro bono programs. She also will develop initiatives and strategies to advance Baker & Daniels' ongoing commitment in both arenas.

With the Indiana State Bar Association for more than three years, Horvath served as liaison to 25 sections with a cumulative membership of 12,000 lawyers and judges. After earning her law degree in 2002, she spent almost two years on the Honorable Gary L. Miller's staff in Marion County Superior Court 5. Prior to graduating from law school, Horvath's legal experience also included serving as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Margret G. Robb in the Indiana Court of Appeals and the Honorable Steve David in Boone County Circuit Court.

While in law school, Horvath was active in a number of pro bono activities and received the Berlon Pro Bono Award for outstanding pro bono and community service. She served on the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program executive committee, as well as the board of directors and advisory board for the Protective Order Pro Bono Project. Horvath also participated in Teen Court, Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and other programs.

Horvath earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1995, graduating with high distinction.
