Faegre Baker Daniels Earns Mansfield 2.0 Certification Plus, Signs on to Mansfield 3.0

FAEGRE BAKER DANIELS — Faegre Baker Daniels achieved Mansfield 2.0 Certification and Certification Plus status from Diversity Lab, building on its commitment to diversity in the legal profession. FaegreBD is one of only 24 firms to achieve Mansfield Certification and Certification Plus status for two consecutive years.

The inaugural Mansfield Rule (Mansfield 1.0) ran from mid-2017 to mid-2018 and aimed to boost diversity in law firm leadership by measuring whether firms considered at least 30% women and attorneys of color for certain leadership and governance roles, partner promotions and senior lateral positions.

Mansfield 2.0 launched in mid-2018 and concluded in July 2019. In addition to the criteria of Mansfield 1.0, Mansfield 2.0 included LGBTQ+ lawyers and expanded beyond leadership metrics to measure the consideration of women, diverse and LGBTQ+ lawyers for participation in client pitch meetings.

Certification Plus means that FaegreBD not only considered 30% diverse lawyers for leadership positions and new business pitch opportunities, but also achieved at least 30% women, minority and LGBTQ+ representation in certain firm leadership and governance positions.

FaegreBD is currently participating in Mansfield 3.0, which runs through mid-2020. The firm has participated in Diversity Lab’s innovative programs since Kastel participated in the 2016 Women in Law Hackathon. FaegreBD was one of 44 firms to work with Diversity Lab to pilot the Mansfield Rule and one of 27 firms to earn Mansfield 1.0 Certification and Certification Plus in its inaugural year. The firm was one of 65 to pilot Mansfield 2.0 and one of 50 to earn Mansfield 2.0 Certification and Certification Plus.

In addition to the Mansfield Rule, FaegreBD has implemented Diversity Lab’s “On Track for Partnership” program — an innovative team-driven and technology-supported sponsorship initiative designed to accelerate professional growth, promote career advancement, and unlock leadership opportunities for women lawyers and lawyers of color.
