Indianapolis Fleet Services Improves Fleet Maintenance and Management

United States - Indiana

Indianapolis Fleet Services (IFS) is responsible for managing and maintaining the vehicle and equipment fleet, including fire apparatus, police cars, snow plows, street sweepers, lawn mowers and just about anything else with a motor. IFS had a high cost structure and delivered sub-par services, and customers were increasingly seeking alternatives to procure fleet management services.

Through a successful Managed Competition lead by Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting principal Skip Stitt, then the City’s Director of Enterprise Development, the IFS team reengineered its service delivery model and cost structure, and submitted the winning proposal. The total cost savings over the first five years were $8.5 million and the quality of IFS’ work also improved.
