National Council for Behavioral Health Seeks Telemedicine Solution for Substance Use Disorders

North America - United States

The National Council for Behavioral Health engaged Faegre Baker Daniels Consulting to work with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to seek a telemedicine solution under the Ryan Haight Act, allowing patients to receive medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders. The National Council for Behavioral Health may also look to the President's Opioid Commission for a solution, working through members of Congress to encourage them to act on the issue.

The Ryan Haight Online Pharmacy Consumer Protection Act was passed to address the issue of "rogue" internet pharmacies prescribing controlled substances.
