Reporter and Newspaper Wins Summary Judgment in Libel and False Light Case

United States - Iowa

A reporter and newspaper publishing company were granted summary judgment in a libel and false light case brought by a police officer. Faegre Baker Daniels represented the publishing company in this case.

The ruling in the Iowa District Court concluded that the statements at issue were true, that plaintiff was a public figure and had failed to prove actual malice, and that the statement that plaintiff was a "pedophile" was a nonactionable opinion.
