Overview

Dave Johnson provides government relations counsel to clients, helping them understand, comply with, and seize opportunities related to new regulations and government actions.
He represents clients before the Minnesota Legislature, state and federal agencies, and local units of government in matters including:
  • Taxation and local government incentives

  • Pensions

Dave works with trade and professional associations, governmental entities, financial services providers, corporations, pension funds and others. He advises clients on government contracting and compliance, licensing, open meeting, and data practices issues. Dave also counsels clients on state and federal campaign finance law and the regulation of political activity.

Past Experience

Before joining Faegre Drinker, Dave led the government affairs practice at another Minneapolis law firm. From 1997 to 2002, he served in the Minnesota Senate where he focused on transportation, energy and economic development issues.
