2014 was a busy year for corporate spinoffs, and all signs point to 2015 being just as active. Faegre Baker Daniels partner Jim Birge has significant experience representing high-growth companies in the area of corporate governance and on commercial and regulatory matters. Birge told the Indianapolis Business Journal that the uptick in spinoffs has largely been fueled by shareholders.
“You’re seeing activist investors who are having trouble finding undervalued stocks in what is a pretty strong bull market,” said Birge. “For the value investors looking for undervalued stocks, there aren’t a lot of those out there—even with the market being relatively flat to slightly down this year.”
